Dream of a "farewell match"

Cologne / Belek - "I've done something that is no longer managed for some time - I played ten years for this great club." Matthias Scherz looks back with satisfaction at his time at FC, which now - at least as "Active" - the end draws.
In the summer of 1999 he came from FC St. Pauli to the Rhine. Experiences with the team with four climbs, but unfortunately, three downs. Among his personal highlights he lists "the game at St. Pauli, when I scored three goals." On 18 November 2002 was, the joke shot at his former club FC single-handedly to victory. In the second leg against FC Pauli then made the perfect comeback, joke with 18 goals had been crucial so: "The season under Friedhelm Funkel my best," recalls a joke. Since 1999, he completed 121 Bundesliga games for FC (19 goals) and met 45 times in 148 second-division games
As before, the 37-year-old high esteem within the team and coach Christoph Daum enjoys, even though it sports "only" for the role of Precious Jokers last. End of the season is concluded then a joke, who completed his final training camp in Belek as a professional depends on the shoes on the rack.
The fact that he is too old for the dawn of better times and FC rebuilding of a great team around Lukas Podolski, makes him "out of nothing". After all, who besides him here last ten years has survived? And besides, he will remain so loyal to the club: "I will continue to work for the FC. Exactly in what capacity is something we are still holding talks. I feel at home in Cologne and in this club. "
By his career's end as Active "Scherzer" a very clear idea: "If I could wish it to me, then I wanted in last season's game against Bochum play from the start. That would be a great degree in their own stadium in front of our great fans. I think the team is so secure that we will then be saved. "If so, is it the desire Christoph Daum can hardly refuse.
